Deer mounts for whitetail and other bucks
The process of amateur or professional taxidermy requires a lot of care, patience and attention, especially when the preserved (part of the) deceased animal will be shown off to visitors who are undoubtedly going to carefully scrutinize it. I don't mean those who consider the creation of deer mounts politically incorrect, on the contrary. It's particularly your friends who appreciate your hobby, who will go out of tyheir way to (kindly) point out your little faults and mistakes.
Most amateur taxidermy is performed by the hunters themselves for themselves, while most professionals tend to work for third parties like schools, restaurants, museums, and of course those who aren't really interested in creating their own mounts. Either way, the taxidermist needs to be decently educated in the fields of painting, and sculpture, anatomy, dissection, and tanning. Some animals are easier to "stuff" than others. Since much of the process of taxidermy depends on having a hard structure with which to work, at least for amateurs the practice is usually restricted to animals with backbones.
Both amateurs and professionals have made great strides in their craft. Since the turn of the last century, taxidermy has developed as a hybrid between art and science, and hi-tech materials and advanced technologies have added greatly to the beauty of the results. You can see that easily in modern mounts, that nowadays truly reflect the splendor of the animal.
